The Blood of Christ

Christianity is a religion of freedom and it is obtained through faith in Christ. But obtaining that freedom required a huge sacrifice. The sacrifice of our Sins. Christ was crucified by the Romans just to save us from the wages of sin, which is death.

We will learn about the significance of the Blood of Christ..

1) It brings us closer to God.

"For God so loved the world that he gave His only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16

We can't connect to God properly without believing in Christ .

2) It cleanses us from sin and impurity and Death.

"For this is my blood of the covenant(relationship between God and Man strengthened through Christ) which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of Sins."- Matthew 26:28

The consequence of sin is death. When Adam and Eve sinned, they and all the human (Adamic) race had to be subject to earthly death. But if we believe in God and do what He says, we will live one more time in Heaven, through the rebirth by the Holy Spirit. It saves us from shame, guilt and it's deadly consequences.

3) Our sins are forgiven

"Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of Sins." - Hebrews 9:22

When we sacrifice our fleshy deeds and pick up the cross and follow Christ, and also when we repent, God forgives our Sins. Our bodies perish but our souls don't.

' Take care of your body as if could live forever, but take care of your soul as if it will die today.' - St. Augustine

We must repent genuinely and confess our Sins to the Lord. Then only He will forgive.

4) We don't need to prove our repentance and devotion to God by offering sacrifices

"So Christ has been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him."- Hebrews 9:28

In the Old Testament times, on the day of Atonement (meaning, reconciliation with God),the High Priest used to go to the Most Holy Place behind the second curtain of the Tabernacle where he used to get a bull and sacrifice it for repentance of his and his family's sins and then he used to take the first goat and sacrifice it for the sins of the whole Israel. And he used to pour sins of Israel and Jews on the live goat and then send it in a faraway desert to be taken care of by a Shepherd (it reflects God's mercy on the sinner). This used to happen every year .

But now, since Christ had sacrificed once for the whole world's sins, we don't need to do all such offerings. We can directly confess. But we must look on this day as a reminder.
