Christmas Dessert Recipes...
Christmas is a time when you enjoy desserts and sweets.
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Proverbs 25:27
And also , India is rich in sweets and confectionary items. But for Christmas , some western sweets will be added ( you see)..
1) KARANJI
Gujiya, Gughara, Pedakiya, or karanji is a sweet deep-fried dumpling, native to the Indian subcontinent, made with suji or maida stuffed with a mixture of sweetened khoa and dried fruits, and fried in ghee. It is native to Maharashtra and Gujarat. You will literally love it.
1) Take 3 cups maida and sift it. Then , add a pinch of Baking Soda and Salt and 1 tbsp sugar ( powdered). Add water in batches till it becomes a dough ( chapati like). Apply ghee on it and let it rest for 1/2 hour.
2) In a mixer , add 1.5 cup shredded coconut ( dessicated), 1 cup powdered sugar, cardamon seeds, nuts( cashew and almonds) and grind it until it has a coarse texture. Then keep it in a seperate bowl.
3) Now, start rolling the maida balls into balls . Flatten them until they become small circles. We have to fill the stuffing in it so roll it properly and give the dough uniform thickness. Now put the dough in the shape maker and add the stuffing ( 1 tbsp each) and then close it as shown. Then press it firmly so it will be properly sealed. Remove it and then pinch the edges and remove the excess.
Woohoo ! Our karanjis are made . Enjoy them while singing carols and while having a feast.
2) Doughnut
A doughnut or donut is a type of leavened fried dough. It is popular in many countries and is prepared in various forms as a sweet snack that can be homemade or purchased in bakeries, supermarkets, food stalls, and franchised specialty vendors. I love them a lot and it is popular in the Christian Community and Western Society. I really love them .
1) Add 3 cups maida in a bowl. To it , add 1 tbsp of Hydrogenated Vegetable oil ( it makes the doughnuts fluffier) and 1 cup powdered sugar with some drops of Vanilla Essence. Also add 2 eggs( Alternatively , add 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup Crisco). Mix them and add milk-water mixture to forma a dough.
2) Now roll the dough and make it like a round dough ( flattened). Dust flour as needed.
3) Now take the doughnut cutter and cut the dough to make a proper shape. Your doughnuts are formed. Also keep the small circles ( remaining) part and cook them too.
